7 Coping Skills For Anxiety | How to cope when feeling anxious

Anxiety and stress are a part of our life, and at some point we encounter them whether we like it or not. What we need to do is to find creative, unique ways to cope with such situations and move on. The truth is that coping with anxiety is not very difficult, if you know what approach to take. With that being said, here are some ideas.

Slow breathing

When you are encountering anxiety, a very good idea is to take deep breaths and also count to 10 or 20. Simple things like these de-stress your body and they make it easier to deal with anxiety. That doesn’t mean it will automatically go away, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction.

Improve your lifestyle

Changing your lifestyle can also be the right approach here. For example, you can start eating healthily and focusing on well-balanced, healthy means. Eliminate caffeine and alcohol from your life, since they can bring panic and anxiety attacks. Also, start exercising as much as possible every week and even hire a fitness trainer if needed.

Stay positive

It’s important to see just the positive things in everything you are dealing with. Sure, you need to take things seriously, but don’t just focus on the bad side. You want to see the good stuff too, and that mindset will help you get past anxiety related issues more than you expect.

Volunteer

Volunteering brings a sense of wellbeing and happiness because you are actively helping other people. You always want to push the boundaries and make a difference, thankfully volunteering can help you do that in the long run.

Use stress management techniques

There are a variety of techniques like stress management, yoga, meditation or visualization techniques that can help you unwind and deal with anxiety. It’s a good idea to have your own set of techniques that you apply whenever you feel down and unhappy or stressed out. Experiment and see what works for you, and it will be worth it.

Socialize

Many times, a great way to eliminate anxiety is to socialize and connect with other people. This is important, because we are social creatures, and simple things like talking with others can make us happy. That’s why we want to socialize especially when we have anxiety or anything similar, as it will make a huge difference.

Identify triggers (and avoid them)

Every person has different anxiety triggers. What we can do is to figure out what leads to anxiety and narrow down ways to avoid them. It can help quite a lot, and it will eliminate anxiety from your life bit by bit. Yes, it takes time to identify these triggers and work on them, but it’s the right thing to do.

We always recommend using these tips if you want to stop having anxiety in your life. It’s important to know the anxiety triggers and work on them, but at the same time you also want to instill a more positive attitude. Other tips like using doing yoga, socializing or meditating can help too. Test them out right away!
